Fans, teammates and even other football clubs are rallying round to support a Jarvis Brook FC striker who has been sidelined for months with a horror injury.
On 20th October, during a game against Mile Oak FC, Will Street suffered a serious injury, breaking both his tibia and fibula.
The incident was so serious the game was abandoned by match officials, and Will now faces a long road to recovery, with time away from football and potentially a significant period off work as he focuses on getting back on his feet.
Will was rushed to hospital where he had one emergency operation and then was hospitalised for a further fortnight before a second operation.
The response from the club and its fans was swift.
A spokesperson said: “As a club, we want to do everything we can to support Streety through this difficult time. The injury will bring plenty of challenges – physically, mentally and financially – we hope to raise some money to help ease the pressure so he can concentrate on his recovery without having to worry quite so much about the day-to-day costs.”
The club has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to help Will while he recovers. And thousands have already been pledged including from Brook fans, club officials, Will’s teammates, fellow league side, Reigate Priory FC, and even League club Lincoln City.
The spokesperson added: “Any donation, no matter how big or small, would mean a huge amount to Will and everyone around him. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would also be massively appreciated.
“Let’s get behind Streety, show him how much he means to us all, and help him through the road to recovery. We’re all with you, Streety.”
