The shop at the Morrisons’ petrol station in Crowborough is set to double in size after expansion proposals were given the thumbs up by planners.

Wealden District Council has approved the plans for the site in Beacon Road which will see the current jet wash bays removed and replaced with four new parking spaces.

The existing shop will be doubled in size – taking up the space currently used for the air and vacuum machines, which will be removed. The existing drive-in car wash will be retained.

A previous proposal had suggested removing the drive-in car wash and replacing it with four new jet wash bays. However, concerns were raised about the noise impact this might have on the neighbouring Heather View Care Home.

The revised plans, which were approved last week, remove the jetwash bays completely. And extra section of hedging will be planted between the forecourt and the road footpath.
