A new chapter was written in the history of Jarvis Brook FC as the club hosted an FA Vase match for the very first time.
The opponents were East Preston FC who play in the same Southern Combination Division One as the Brook and last year’s matches suggested the tie would be finely balanced.
But it proved otherwise as the Brook were on blistering form and relentlessly drove forward on a pitch that, like so many, desperately needs rain.
Such was the Brook’s dominance that they were 3-0 up within 23 minutes. And by half-time the tie was effectively over with the home side smiling their way into the dressing room with a 5-0 lead.
New signing Will Street bagged a brace of goals, while Jimmy Hoy, Charlie Baitup, and Liam Edwards also found the back of the net.
The second half was, unsurprisingly, less exciting, The Brook had wrapped up the victory in the first 45 minutes and the full-time whistle couldn’t come soon enough for a demoralised East Preston side.
Man of the Match was Will Street for his two goals and one assist.
