On a cloudless summer’s day hundreds of people turned out for the annual Crowborough Hospital Summer Fete this afternoon (25 August).

The community event, a key fund-raiser for the Friends of Crowborough Hospital, took place in the hospital buildings and grounds on Bank Holiday Monday. It was officially opened by the mayor, Cllr Natalie Whittle.
So popular is the annual event that people were queueing down Southview Road ahead of the opening at 2pm.

Weeks of planning by more than 80 volunteers, led by fete organiser Anthony Shaw, had gone into preparation for the event which featured more than 50 stalls. Toys, entertainment, activities, books, puzzles, clothes, tombolas, refreshments, and so much more, all featured.

Anthony said the fund-raising target would be more than £15,000 which will be used to support care and improve facilities at the hospital in Southview Road.
