Crowborough firefighters have been involved in tackling a field fire at Waldron today which has destroyed two farm tractors carrying hay.
Our drone footage shows Crowborough crews joining colleagues from Uckfield and Barcombe when the alarm was raised at 11.49am this morning (12 August). Off-road fire fighting vehicles from Crowborough, Wadhurst, and Seaford also attended the scene in Dern Lane, Waldron.
The incident comes just a day after the Crowborough crew were called to deal with an electric vehicle fire in the Blue Anchor pub car park.
Residents in Waldron have been advised to close windows and doors and members of the public are being asked to avoid the area. At 2pm, the incident was scaled down to two Land Rovers and two fire engines.
With the recent prolonged dry weather, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is reminding residents, visitors, and landowners to be more cautious this summer.
Families are being urged to take simple precautions to reduce the chance of fires starting and spreading, by not using barbeques on dry grass or dropping cigarette ends.
